VISUAL is run by artist Jason Gould. He earned his MFA at Cal State Fullerton, worked at the San Diego Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, and taught for years before opening VISUAL in 2009 to fill a gap in the city's underground and urban contemporary art scene.
He founded the VISUAL Public Art Project, painting utility boxes and murals across central San Diego with the same artists shown in the gallery, and designs custom art and mural projects for clients citywide.
